Rieger Metallveredlung Blog – Surface treatment climate neutral

Surface treatment climate neutral

Processing of the surfaces is climate-neutral

(July 2021) At Rieger Metallveredlung, the energy sources required to generate the surfaces are electricity and currently oil. Our aim has always been to increase energy efficiency and thus to reduce the use of the required energies. From 2007 to 2011 we were able to increase our energy efficiency by 7% and reduce CO2 emissions by 17% by participating in the round table named "EnergieEffizienz – Tisch Ostwürttemberg".

Of course, after this table was concluded, we continued to focus on increasing energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.

In 2011, for example, the first PV system was put into operation on the roof. This was supplemented at the beginning of 2021 with the commissioning of the facade PV system.

We have been receiving electricity as green electricity since 2015. The electricity is generated in Scandinavian run-of-river power plants.

Since the end of 2020, we have switched to oil purchasing with the corresponding CO2 compensation certification and can therefore ensure climate neutrality in this area as well. The latest certificates can also be found in the download area on our homepage under „www.rieger-metallveredlung.de/downloads.php“.

With these measures, Rieger Metallveredlung now guarantees climate-neutral surfaces. This applies to chrome plating, nickel plating, tin plating and other surfaces across the entire range of the machining program.
